Like every CPA firm around the country, we are now officially in the throes of tax season. As a newcomer to this industry, I’m seeing first hand how this affects everyone--our tax and audit specialists and our great production team that produces all of our reports and tax returns.
If there was ever any doubt, it’s now clear that the way we deal with stress around here is with food, glorious food. San Francisco is the city where, ultimately, all conversations drift toward a discussion about food. So far, we’ve had our annual international potluck day, nachos spreads, pizza and Philly cheese steak lunches. We staged a wildly successful build your own ice cream sundae bar and Aloha Friday. We’re in denial. We all hate to think what we’re going to look like by mid-April, but for now, we like to have something to munch on while we focus on making sure our clients receive the high level of customer service that is part of the DZH brand.
Once this is all over, we look forward to summer in the city. We always spend at least one sunny afternoon watching the Giants at PacBell Park. We’re down to just one Barry--this will be the first year without homerun king Barry Bonds, so there’s much speculation about how the Giants are going to fare this season. And what’s a baseball game without beer, garlic fries and dogs.
Late last year we moved into a new space in San Francisco’s SOMA area that’s only a block away from the palm-tree lined Embarcadero. Leaving what had been our home for the last decade was a moving experience in more ways than one--some of the strongest emotional ties were related to food again—we all miss the underground international restaurant plaza.
We are looking forward to our spring open house. We had planned this event to show off our new offices early in the year, but tax season took over. We will be hosting this event in May and look forward to spending time with our clients when we don’t have to talk about taxes.
Other changes for DZH are in the works. We’re rebranding. We have a new logo, letterhead and business cards. We also will be rebranding our website, but that will take us a little longer. We want our clients to know that while we have a new look and feel, we are still the same CPA firm—responsive and committed to providing the best possible service for our clients.
